Staying Healthy with So Shape

Tuesday, 16 January 2018

My main resolution for the year is to be more healthy. Towards the end of 2017, I really started to put on weight and my diet became ridiculously unhealthy. I decided to do a January detox and try So Shape again as it worked so well for me when I did the So Shape Challenge back in September. Here's how I'm getting on this time around, this time with the 14 day challenge...

So Shape offer a range of healthy, low calorie meals which you can have for breakfast, lunch and dinner. There is a variety of pasta dishes, risottos and soups designed to help you lose weight but mainly to keep you healthy. Each meal is packed with nutrients, protein etc. to keep your energy levels high and your bloating down. The meals come in adorable little packets meaning their easy to transport and become a delicious, nutritious meal by just adding hot water making them perfect for an office lunch or an easy dinner when you're feeling a bit lazy.  For me, these were perfect to take to uni or take to work as a light lunch and great in the evenings after a long day when I didn't feel like cooking and Johnny really enjoyed them too. The flavours I've been especially enjoying are tomato soup and mushroom risotto.

For me, I'm not interested in being healthy for the weight-loss aspect (although that is an obvious bonus). I want to have a healthy diet so that I have more energy and not feel so tired all the time, to make sure I'm in the best shape possible so there's less of a change of developing health issues and also to keep track of my mental health: a healthy body doesn't always equal a healthy mind but it helps. Because So Shape prioritise health over weight loss and that's why I keep going back to them when I feel like I need a little health kick. I'm 10 days into my 14 day challenge and can already see the results!

On the side of sampling So Shape's range of 19 gourmet flavours, I am also having extremely healthy breakfasts. Porridge with banana, blueberries and raspberries gives me energy in the morning, for example, keeps me going until lunch time so I'm not tempted by an 11'o'clock snack, which is something I am quite guilty of. I've also been enjoying smoothies - with mango and orange being my favourite combination. Increasing my fruit and veg intake has really helped me in the past few weeks. and breakfast is the best time of day to really make sure you get that 5 a day. I've been feeling much more energetic, my skin has been clearer and my hair has been shinier and thicker than ever.

I've also been changing what I drink. Less wine and more water. I'm not a big fan of drinking a lot of water and prefer juice and squash but they are full of sugar so instead I've been flavouring my water with lemon, lime and mint and turning to green tea when I need a break from the H20. I never used to like green tea but I've found that the Twinings one with Mango and Lychee is really delicious and I've been drinking it a lot recently. Luckily, So Shape sent me over another one of their amazing bottles so I now have two: one to mix my So Shape soups and sauces in and one for making sure I drink a litre+ of water everyday. I really feel like these positive changes in my diet have made me feel so much better.

Thanks to So Shape, I've really made some positive, healthy advances in my lifestyle this month. I really love how it's making me feel.  If you fancy taking on the So Shape Challenge yourself, you can use the code CHLOEALICE10 to get 10% off 14 and 28 day challenges!
