January is a time of new beginnings and fresh starts. I am using this opportunity to not just make some lifestyle changes, but also some beauty changes... Here are some bits that are new to me in 2018 that I can't get enough of at the moment that I picked up on Fragrance Direct!
I have been coveting the shade Dolce Vita from Nars for what feels like forever. If you know me then you know I'm always drawn to the pinky nudes and Dolce Vita had been one I'd been eyeing up for ages. The great thing about Fragrance Direct is that everything is discounted so this little gem was only £18.90 which for a Nars lipstick is pretty good going. This is a semi-matte lipstick meaning that is has reasonable staying power and is very comfortable to wear. What I like about Dolce Vita is that is that it's quite sheer so it's perfect for everyday wear as it's not too intense. While this might not be a new shade type for me, it is a new formula and new brand of lipstick as, despite wanting to try them for ages, I've never actually treated myself to a Nars lippy before. I have completely fallen head over heels for Dolce Vita though in the brief time we've had together and I can't wait to see what the future holds for us.
So, this is a product that I've heard a lot about in the YouTube community but had no idea if I'd love
or hate. These are the Daniel Sandler Watercolour Blushes, and this one is in the shade 'Icing' - a beautiful, pearlescent pink. I'm not overly fond of liquid face products - be that highlighters, bronzers or blushes - but so many people rave about the Watercolour Blushes that when I saw them on Fragrance Direct for only £13, I decided it was worth the plunge. Liquid face products are completely new territory for me but I am obsessed with this one. It's got such a lovely sheen to it - kind of like a highlighter cross blush - and makes me look so alive. It's also incredibly sheer and buildable so it's really easy to work with meaning you can easily avoid looking like a clown. I think this is going to be an absolute staple for me as we're coming into spring time as it makes me look so fresh, alive and dewy.
Another new product for me is this Nars Duo Eye Shadow in the shade 'Kari'. Again, I've never tried Nars eye shadows but this is one of the most stunning shades I've ever come across. It's a mauve brown pink with a hint of shimmer to it and it's the most perfect everyday eye colour. It looks lovely on it's own, blended a bit deeper into the crease and then patted lightly on the lid but also goes amazingly with dark browns. It's such a great shade to wear to work or to uni as it's subtle but also very unique. The formula is pigmented, buttery, smooth and so easy to blend and I am definitely going to have to pick myself up some more Nars eye shadows. The best thing about this little single is it's price tag on Fragrance Direct though: only £18.90! For a Nars eyeshadow, that is incredibly cheap and I'm so impressed. For quality, price and colour you really can't go wrong by picking up 'Kari'.
The Clinique Take The Day Off Make Up Remover is one that I've heard everyone rave about. It's one I've heard talked about all over the internet but I've just never picked up - mostly because I assumed that my Nivea remover could do the same job but at a fraction of the price. However, I was wrong. You barely even need to rub your eye or lips to remove even the toughest of mascaras or liquid lips. For me, this is amazing as sometimes when I take my eye make up off I find it that my eyes can become irritated from excess rubbing. However, with the Clinique one, it's extremely gentle and there's no chance of sensitivity or redness. The only thing I don't like about this product is the lid. It's got a child-proof lid and, well, it turns out that I'm clearly a child as I can literally never open this by myself. This is currently £15.15 on Fragrance Direct, saving you £1.75, and I highly recommend picking it up.
Elemis have been on my list of 'to-try' brands for ever. I was in the market for a new face wash so when I saw the Dynamic Resurfacing Facial Wash on Fragrance Direct for only £21 when it retails at £30, I knew that this was the perfect time to try it. First off, this stuff smells absolutely divine. It's not strongly scented so won't irritate sensitive skin and is very gentle as exfoliants go. Elemis say that this is for "dull, uneven skin" which is definitely something I've been suffering from in the last couple of weeks. I think it might just be my skin adjusting to Christmas and the obscene amount of rubbish I ate over that period and the large amount of gin and tonics I consumed. However, this wash really seems to be working. I use it morning and evening and it makes my skin feel so lovely and soft after use.
Last but definitely not least is this Manuka Honey Mask from Antipodes which is an item that I have been coveting for ages. My friend, Gemma, has raved about this mask for as long as I can remember and so when I saw that Antipodes was sold on Fragrance Direct and this mask was only £22.99, I knew it was my time to use this mask. I adore manuka honey; I think it's so beneficial to my skin and so many of my skin care items contain mankua honey because I really love it. I've only used this mask once but once is enough to know it's going to be a firm favourite in my collection. It make my skin feel so soft and supple and the smell of it is just absolutely divine. If you're in the market for a new treat for your skin then I highly recommend this one!
I love trying out new skincare and make up items and I'm so happy with the selections I made from Fragrance Direct. I'd really recommend checking out Fragrance Direct for switching up your make up this year as the discounts are just insane!
